Meet the Team

  • Thelma Jaekel Adv Dip FS (FP), Adv Dip Acc

Director/Adviser and Corporate Authorised Representative of Synchron

I enjoy every moment of co-directing SLFS with my colleague Jane Looker. You might also say that I love initiating ideas for our staff and client social activities as I do believe that social connectedness (away from a screen), is important for building strong communities.

I am a mother of 3 adult children who have recently left the nest to pursue their various careers. Albany has been home to me for eleven years, during which time I embarked on a career change into the world of financial planning. Prior to moving to Albany, I lived rurally in Ongerup/Borden where I spent my time balancing raising a family, nursing and farming.

I aim to help our clients feel comfortable when discussing their financial future and to empower them to help get results. I am a member of the FPA and provide highly professional and personable advice to my clients in and above the requirements of the FPA.

  • Jane Looker, Dip FS (FP), Assoc Dip Bus

Director/Adviser and Corporate Authorised Representative of Synchron

I love being part of the Sound Life team. I think it’s my passion for helping people which has led me down this path, having spent almost 20 years lecturing in Business and Accounting at South Regional TAFE.

I moved to beautiful Albany as a young adult in 1983. My husband Warren and I live on a small semi-rural property in Robinson Estate. Family is really important to me. I love to sew and my mum, sisters, nieces and friends gather regularly to chat and sew. I also love the bush and walking the trails around Albany is something Warren and I look forward to. Sound Life provides a personalised service. We find that people in general don’t talk about money or their finances. To be able to come in and chat with someone about their situation, their future hopes and dreams and to know what is and isn’t achievable can be a great relief for most of our clients.

For me it’s still about helping people and that’s what we do really well at Sound Life.

  • Harrison Miles, BCom, GradDip FP

    Associate Planner

I have recently joined Sound Life Financial Services, having moved back to the country from Perth where I completed my Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance and Management at Curtin University.

Whilst studying, I operated a small gardening and lawn mowing business where I gathered an understanding of the financial maze and challenges that small businesses may face. This has spurred my passion for helping small business owners, in particular, younger people who are "giving it a crack" in small business.

A passionate sports enthusiast, in particular, a footy supporter, I've also done my fair share of travelling and have an appreciation of how other countries and their culture work together.

  • Tammy Bridger

    Client Services Officer

I joined the Sound Life team in 2018 after spending four years raising our two beautiful children with my husband.

Albany has always been home, except for 3 years when my husband and I travelled around Australia before settling in Karratha.

Having a background in Accounts, Financial Planning is an area that I'm keen to explore. I'm learning so many new things and I love working with a fantastic team of like-minded people.

  • Cathy Shepherd

    Client Services Officer

I have lived in Albany for over 25 years now after moving from the hills in Perth.

I've worked in several different industries over my working career but it's the financial services industry that I enjoy and where I need to be!

Being part of the Sound Life team ticks all the boxes for me as I work with such wonderful people who share the same passion and goals.

And who wouldn't enjoy the amazing view from our office?!

  • Sonia Schuldi

    Receptionist

I have been in Albany for 19 years, moving from Perth to raise my two amazing children in an awesome environment that is the Great Southern. They are now young adults paving their careers in Perth.

I have over 30 years experience in a range of different levels of administration in both the corporate and non-for-profit worlds and have a passion for ensuring people requesting a service, receive professional, courteous and accurate assistance. I am excited to work for a company that reflects my passion of person centered focus who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.

One the weekends I love to be on the beach with my fur kid as much as I can, 4 wheel driving around the amazing coastline the Great Southern has on offer and also quite partial to an ‘afternoon in’ reading a good book.

  • Beth Hearle

    Accounts

I've been working part-time at Sound Life for almost 5 years now in the area of account management and budgeting and enjoy being part of the team!

My two children are now young adults and increasingly more independent with my son away at uni and my daughter in her final year of school. This means my husband and I are now moving into a new stage of our lives where we have more time to think about our goals, future aspirations and planning for retirement.

When I'm not at the Sound Life office you will find me either at the Great Southern TAFE as a lecturer, assisting my husband in managing our own business or volunteering and competing at the Albany Surf Life Saving Club.
